The pricing of certain stocks and options traded on major U.S. exchanges is gradually shifting
to a decimal system this fall, at the direction of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Decimalization refers to pricing in dollars and cents.
This partial move to decimalization is to be followed no later than April 9, 2001, by the trading
of all stocks in decimals. The move is in response to public and regulatory calls for a
more easily understood pricing system. Converting U.S. stocks from fractional to decimal
pricing brings the American exchanges in line with most global markets.
U.S. Global Investors already prices its mutual funds shares using a net asset value quoted
in decimals. Therefore, the pricing shift will not directly affect your USGI accounts and
statements; however, you will notice the difference in newspaper quotations.
