- How do I redeem shares for a non-retirement account?
You can redeem up to $50,000.00 worth of shares per day to the address on record or to bank account information already on file online or by telephone for non-retirement accounts if your account has the telephone redemption privilege established. If your account does not have telephone redemption privileges, you can submit your redemption request by regular mail. For security reasons we are unable to accept instructions to redeem shares via e-mail or fax.
Online: Access your account, select the fund you want to redeem from by clicking the “Fund Detail” button. Select the “Fund Transaction” tab and click on “Redeem” from the drop-down list.
By phone: You can call and speak to an Investor Representative at 1-800-US-FUNDS (1-800-873-8637) during our normal business hours (Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 7:00 PM CT) and redeem shares.
By mail: Send a written letter of instruction or a completed Redemption Authorization Form. Please include your account number(s) and redemption amount, along with the original signature(s) of all registered account owners(s). Please mail your redemption request to:
U.S. Global Investors
P.O. Box 659405
San Antonio TX 78265-9604
Redemption requests must be submitted in writing and bear a Medallion Signature Guarantee for each account owner’s original signature in the following situations:
- Redemptions over $50.000.00 worth of shares.
- Redemptions to a different account registration, payee or an address other than the address of record.
- Redemptions made within thirty (30) days of a change in the address of record.
- Redemptions to a bank account that is not currently on file.
- How may I withdraw from my retirement account (IRA, Roth IRA, SEP IRA, Simple IRA)?
Withdrawal requests for retirement accounts must be submitted in writing. Please complete an IRA Distribution Form and mail to the address listed on the form. A Medallion Signature Guarantee is required for the same situations as listed in the question above. In addition, Medallion Signature Guarantees are required if the preparer of the IRA Distribution Form is an executor or beneficiary.

- How does the Visa Checkcard work?
The Visa CheckCard works with the U.S. Treasury Securities Cash Fund.
Use it instead of a check anywhere Visa is accepted. Whether you are shopping around the corner or around the world, your Visa CheckCard is an easy way to pay. Your Visa CheckCard is made for your busy lifestyle.
Because it carries the Visa symbol, your Visa CheckCard works like a check anywhere your Visa is accepted—over 13 million locations worldwide—even places that normally refuse checks like gas stations and restaurants.
You can use your Visa CheckCard for everyday things—like dry cleaning, lunch or department store purchases. Just present your Visa CheckCard at the time of purchase, and the amount will automatically be deducted from your money market account.
It provides you with convenient cash access. Your Visa CheckCard is the most convenient card to keep in your wallet. You can use it to get cash at over 250,000 Visa/PLUS Network Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) worldwide. You will receive a unique Personal Identification Number (PIN) in a few days.
To use your card in an ATM simply:
- Enter your PIN number.
- Select either “Visa Cash Advance” or “Checking Withdrawal.” Both selections are handled identically when the transaction is deducted from your money market fund account.
It works just like a check, only faster. Using the Visa CheckCard is hassle-free. There is no checkbook to carry. No check to write. No I.D. to show. No waiting for check approval. So you are in and out of stores in no time.
It is easier.
Your Visa CheckCard makes recordkeeping simple and accurate. You will receive a receipt for every merchant or ATM transaction that you make and your money market account statement will list every transaction—with the date of the transaction, the amount, the merchant’s or financial institution’s name and location. This makes it simple to keep track of how much you spend.
It is more convenient.
Why carry cash when you can carry the Visa CheckCard? It is safer and more convenient than carrying cash. And it is accepted at more places, for more purchases than any other card in the world. That makes it especially valuable when you travel!
- Which of your funds offer check writing privileges? Is check writing free?
Both of our money market funds offer unlimited check writing privileges if you open an account and maintain at least a $1,000 balance. Our U.S. Government Securities Savings Fund requires that checks be made out for $500 or more. Our U.S. Treasury Securities Cash Fund, however, allows you to write checks for any amount. There is no per-check charge and we will send you a complimentary set of starter checks when you establish this privilege!
