U.S. Global Investors Wins 15 Investor Education Awards from the MFEA

U.S. Global Investors was recently awarded 15 STAR Awards by the Mutual Fund Education Alliance (MFEA). U.S. Global was honored with the awards for best overall communications to both the retail and advisor audiences, and the best overall digital/technology communications to retail customers. U.S. Global competed in the small funds category, which includes firms with $5 billion or less in assets under management.

One of the company’s core values is “Curiosity to Learn and Improve,” and the emphasis on shareholder education is a natural extension of this value. This year’s success brings the firm’s total to 43 educational awards won since 2007.

Shareholder Report 2012 Vol. 1

For the sixth-straight year, the Shareholder Report won the award for best printed shareholder magazine. Mailed quarterly to each fund shareholder, the Shareholder Report highlights the investment team’s research on trends and updates in key areas around the world.

Frank Talk

In the Wild Card category, Frank Holmes’ CEO blog, Frank Talk, took home the award. Available online, through an RSS feed, through our mobile apps, and now by email subscription, one of the judges commented that Frank Talk is “one of the best online communication tools in our business.” Subscribe to Frank Talk here. U.S. Global was recognized for its efforts in educating investors about investing in China with the award for the best special communications for the China and the American Dream Trade theme, through numerous blog postings, presentations and special commentaries over the past year. In addition, the Global Natural Resources Campaign, a multi-faceted campaign designed to educate energy investors about what they should know before adding exposure to their portfolios, won the award for best online marketing campaign.

Interactive Explorer Corner

For the third year, the Interactive Explore Corner of the usfunds.com website was recognized, winning the award for best digital innovation. The Interactive Explore Corner presents a different interactive, educational element each week. Some popular features of the Interactive Explore Corner have been the Presidential Elections 2012 interactive world map, the Many Uses of Gold slideshow and the World Currency Quiz.

One of U.S. Global’s signature publications, the Investor Alert, won the award for best electronic shareholder newsletter. The Investor Alert is a free, weekly e-newsletter that is sent each Friday evening, featuring the insights of our portfolio managers on gold, natural resources, emerging markets, and the latest developments in the economy. U.S. Global also was awarded the best introduction kit for retail customers, for the fund guide and information kit.

Flash Facts

In addition to the overall communications award for the advisor audience, U.S. Global was recognized for several other advisor-focused items. The best special communications award was given for Flash Facts, a new, visually driven message sent by email to top advisor clients. A judge expressed appreciation for the “succinct, visually compelling message and clear calls to action.” The Insights & Research Advisor Library, which is a resource of commentary by CEO and chief investment officer Frank Holmes on timely subjects that relate to current economic conditions around the world, won for best educational communications for advisors.

The firm’s Gold Equities vs. Bullion campaign won the award for best communication campaign, with its continuing efforts to educate advisors about the relationship between the precious metal and the related mining stocks. U.S. Global Investors also won the award for best advisor electronic newsletter, with the Advisor Alert.
