Gold at $10,000 Isn't Crazy
October 25, 2019

Frank Holmes believes that gold soaring to $10,000 an ounce wouldn’t be crazy. Why could the metal go that high without significant political turmoil? Frank says it would be due to the abuse of printing money and the growing amount of negative-yielding debt globally. Gold is also driven by strong seasonal demand out of India during Diwali and wedding season.

For Frank’s full thoughts, watch the video below! You can also hear Frank give a presentation on Sunday October 27 at the Cambridge House Silver & Gold Summit in San Francisco.

How China Uses Gold for Protection
October 23, 2019

Since December 2018, China has purchased over 100 tons of gold after not buying any for several years, according to its central bank data. Frank Holmes says this is a way for China to protect the value and credibility of its paper currency during the geopolitical turmoil of the ongoing trade war with the U.S. Frank adds that central bank demand is positive for the yellow metal and other catalysts such as negative yielding bonds could drive prices higher.

Mining Executives Cautiously Bullish on Gold
September 20, 2019

This year marked the 30th anniversary of the Denver Gold Forum, the world’s most prestigious precious metals equities investment forum. Frank Holmes recently returned from this invitation-only event, which was represented by an incredible seven-eighths of the world’s publicly-traded gold and silver companies when measured by production. U.S. Global Investors was actually one of the founding members of the event back in 1989.

Frank noted that at the conference this year, investors and executives were cautiously bullish on gold and the mining sector as a whole. However, some investors were hyper-bullish and, in one exceptional case, made price forecasts of as much as $25,000 an ounce for bullion.

What's Next for Gold After $1,500?
August 12, 2019

The yellow metal recently surged above $1,500 per ounce for the first time since September 2013. Gold has even outperformed the S&P 500 so far this year. What does Frank Holmes make of this rally? He’s confident gold could continue to run based on the record $15 trillion in negative-yielding government bonds around the world. And as always, he advocates the 10 Percent Golden Rule of having a 10 percent portfolio weighting toward gold and gold stocks.

Frank Holmes Believes Gold Will Break $1,400
June 19, 2019

Due to growing geopolitical tensions and the threat of more U.S. tariffs against China, Frank Holmes believes that gold will finally crack the $1,400 per ounce level. Billionaire hedge fund manager Paul Tudor Jones also believes gold could soon soar. Jones told Bloomberg that if the yellow metal crossed the $1,400 mark, then it’ll hit $1,700 rather quickly.

The 10 Percent Golden Rule Explained

If you follow Frank Holmes in the news or through his personal blog, then you probably know he often says “Go Gold!” or “Follow the 10 percent golden rule!” But what exactly is the 10 Percent Golden Rule? It advocates a 10 percent portfolio weighting in gold – with 5 percent in physical gold bars, coins and jewelry and the other 5 percent in gold equities such as stocks, mutual funds and ETFs.

Introducing the World's Single Largest Gold Producer
March 13, 2019

The two largest gold miners – Barrick and Newmont Mining – announced a joint venture (JV) in their Nevada operations to create the world’s single largest gold producing company with a reserve base of 48 million ounces in the ground. The JV is estimated to save both companies $500 million in the first five years of operations due to sharing resources and tax breaks, according to GMP Securities equity research. This news follows weeks of drama after Barrick offered a hostile, all-share bid to take over Newmont. Frank comments that the JV is a much better alternative, rather than have the two companies battle it out in the capital markets. Frank also says that a big winner from this news will be Franco-Nevada Corp, which owns royalties on several of the mines in the Nevada complex.

Billionaire Sam Zell Says Yes to Gold
January 31, 2019

In a recent Bloomberg interview, billionaire investor Sam Zell announced that he bought gold for the first time because “it is a good hedge” and that supply is starting to run short. Frank Holmes agrees with Zell’s reasoning and explains that the world might soon hit peak gold – where production has peaked and all the “low hanging fruit” of deposits have already been discovered. Frank also discusses rising gold demand from India, the world’s second largest consumer, due to rising GDP per capita and purchasing power.

Gold Closes The Year Strong
December 20, 2018
